R. Nadal is retiring from tennis at 38, having won 22 Grand Slam titles (Roland Garros, Wimbledon, Australian Open, US Open), the second most in tennis history. He also secured 92 ATP titles and spent 209 weeks as the world’s number one.
The Spanish player is widely regarded as the greatest clay court player in history, winning Roland Garros in Paris 14 times (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2022) with a record of 112 wins in 116 matches.
R. Nadal was part of the Big 3 in tennis, along with R. Federer and N. Djokovic, winning 66 Grand Slam titles—24 for Djokovic, 22 for Nadal, and 20 for Federer.
Nadal’s last major titles came in 2022 when he won both the Australian Open and his favorite, Roland Garros. He had previously claimed the Australian Open in 2006, Wimbledon in 2008 and 2010, and the US Open in 2010, 2013, 2017, and 2019.
His final match will be in the Davis Cup this November with the Spanish national team, with whom he has won two Olympic gold medals: in Beijing in 2008 and Rio in 2016.
