Romanian authorities carried out a new raid this morning at the home of influencer Andrew Tate, who is awaiting trial on charges of human trafficking, rape, forming a criminal organization, and sexual exploitation of women.

The Romanian organized crime prosecution service announced a new investigation into Tate for human trafficking, trafficking of minors, sexual contact with a minor, false statements, and money laundering. Both Andrew and his brother, Tristan, were taken in for questioning.

Tate, known for his misogynistic comments, has 9.9 million followers on X (formerly Twitter) and claims that there is no evidence against him, saying that he is the victim of a conspiracy.

The two Tate brothers, former kickboxers with dual citizenship in the UK and the US, have amassed millions of followers on social media. They were arrested in 2022 near Bucharest, along with two women. Romanian prosecutors formally charged all four last year, but they denied the allegations. The brothers were first detained in Romania in December 2022 and were released from house arrest in August 2023.

Last month, a court overturned a previous decision that allowed the Tate brothers to leave Romania while awaiting their trial. The earlier court ruling on July 5 permitted them to leave the country as long as they stayed within the 27-member European Union. The latest ruling is final.
