The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport is moving forward with the digitization of procedures related to driver’s licenses, vehicle transfers, and driving tests, while also seeking to put an end to bribery involving driving examiners, according to Proto Thema.
Specifically, in an effort to prevent examiners from soliciting bribes, cameras will be used during driving tests and candidates will be able to report attempted bribery.
In addition, after successfully passing the practical driving test, drivers will be able to view their license in the Gov.gr Wallet one week later. There will be options for both named and anonymous complaints, covering not only bribery attempts but also other irregularities, such as delays. Complaints will be submitted through the report-diplomata.gov.gr platform and forwarded to the relevant authorities for investigation. For the first time, such incidents will be recorded through a unified nationwide system.
More than 2.1 million electronic applications have already been submitted, with approximately 8,000 new applications added each day.
The vehicle registration plate issuance process is also being modernized and will be carried out electronically. Citizens will be able to submit registration applications online, choose either a random or a special license plate number, and pay the corresponding fees digitally.
According to the newspaper, the new system is based on the extensive digitization of public services. More than 2.1 million electronic applications have already been submitted, with approximately 8,000 new applications added each day. The ministry’s goal is to reduce in-person visits to public offices and ensure the complete digital recording of every stage of the process.
