After 24 hours of intense speculation among her fans, Taylor Swift announced the release of her 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, without revealing its release date.

The announcement was made by Swift herself during a surprise guest appearance on the New Heights podcast, hosted by her friend, Travis Kelce.

In December 2024, she completed the Eras Tour (149 concerts in 53 cities), with 1.2 million people attending in the United Kingdom alone—a series of shows that generated around £1 billion for the country’s economy. The tour became the most profitable in history, earning her $2 billion from 149 sold-out stadium concerts.

Her most recent album, The Tortured Poets Department, released in 2024, was the year’s best-selling record with 7 million copies sold.

In May, it was announced that she had repurchased the rights to her first six albums for around $360 million (which had been sold to her manager Scooter Braun and later to a private equity firm), ending a long-running dispute over the ownership of her music.

The 35-year-old is among the world’s best-selling music artists, with an estimated 200 million albums sold globally, and she holds the record for the most No. 1 albums in U.S. history by a female artist.
