Israel carried out one of its deadliest airstrikes in the past 15 months, killing over 404+ Palestinians and breaking the ceasefire before an agreement for the second phase could be reached, following the conclusion of the first phase two weeks ago. [1], [2].
Hamas accuses Israel of unilaterally ending the ceasefire, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the IDF attacked Gaza due to Hamas’s refusal to release hostages.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump was informed about the attack and gave his approval, also accusing Hamas of failing to release the hostages.
Israel imposed new conditions for the ceasefire, requesting the release of more hostages from Gaza, while Hamas insists on adhering to the original agreement.
The attack today occurred throughout Gaza, including in Khan Younis and Rafah in the south, Gaza City in the north, and central areas like Deir al-Balah.
Among the victims were many children, as reported by Gaza’s Ministry of Health, which also stated that “a number of victims are still trapped under the rubble.”
The press office of Israel’s Prime Minister stated that “from now on, military action against Hamas will intensify,” according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s office.
The IDF has killed over 48,000 people in the region since October 7, 2023, according to Palestinian health authorities.
