The heating allowance for 2026–2027 will increase by 30% compared with the previous winter season, according to a new Joint Ministerial Decision published in the Government Gazette. The financial support is expected to cover approximately 1.2 million households, with payments ranging from €100 to €1,560, depending on the area of residence, type of heating and household composition.

The deadline for submitting applications through the Independent Authority for Public Revenue’s (AADE) myΘέρμανση platform is December 4, 2026, although the platform’s opening date has yet to be announced. Advance payments are expected to be made by December 23. Applicants will be able to apply using their personal TAXISnet credentials, providing details of their primary residence, electricity supply number, heating fuel type and bank account (IBAN).

Income thresholds remain at €16,000 for single individuals and €24,000 for married couples, with an additional €5,000 for each dependent child. For single-parent families, the threshold is €29,000, increasing by €5,000 for each child after the first. The property value limit is €200,000 for single individuals and €260,000 for married couples and single-parent families, with an additional €40,000 per child.

As in previous years, a special application procedure applies to apartment buildings.

Those excluded from the allowance include individuals registered as guests in another household, dependent family members and owners of more than two private vehicles. Households enrolled in the Social Residential Tariff scheme are not eligible for the electricity heating allowance, while additional population and climate-related restrictions apply to firewood and wood pellets.

For apartment buildings, the building manager must create a profile on the myΘέρμανση platform, registering each apartment and its share of the building’s heating costs. Eligible residents can then submit their individual applications. Heating oil purchase receipts must be issued under the building’s tax identification number (AFM) or that of its manager or representative.

Advance payments will amount to 60% of last year’s allowance for existing beneficiaries and 50% of the estimated allowance for new beneficiaries, with a 30% increase and a minimum payment of €80. The next payment is scheduled by May 28, 2027, with an additional payment by July 30 for electricity, natural gas and district heating.
