The Ministry of Finance has taken measures to support the victims and their families from the Mati fire in 2018 and the floods in Mandra in 2017.

The provisions include:

Full protection of compensations awarded by court decisions, which are classified as tax-free, non-transferable, and exempt from seizure.

Establishment of a special pension of 1,700 euros per month, equal to four times the full national pension. Beneficiaries are the relatives of the victims, as well as the burn victims of the Mati fire with second- or third-degree burns and a disability rate of 50% or more, who are registered in the Burn Victims Registry. The pension is tax-free and cannot be seized, is not offset against debts, does not reduce other social benefits, is paid regardless of employment or receipt of another pension, and automatically increases with the national pension.

From the floods in Western Attica (Mandra) in 2017, 24 people lost their lives, while 104 died in the Mati fire in 2018.

Universal and automatic cancellation of debts to the Tax Administration, social security funds, and local authorities, including debts under installment plans or the out-of-court settlement mechanism. This also applies to debts arising from participation in management or corporate composition of legal entities. The insurance time corresponding to the canceled contributions is fully preserved.

Full healthcare coverage for burn victims, both in Greece and abroad, as well as free, personalized psychological support for the families of the victims.
