Inspections following the recent wildfires found significant damage across six areas of Greece. Of 325 buildings inspected in West Attica, Achaia, Argolida, Boeotia, Rethymno and Phocis, 118 were classified as “red”, 119 as “yellow” and 88 as “green”. Under the classification system, “green” means a building is safe for use, “yellow” means it has sustained damage and requires repairs or further inspection, and “red” means it is unsafe for use.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the Boeotia wildfire is focusing on possible construction defects or technical failures in the private medium-voltage network connected to the Mavro Spithari wind farm. The Directorate for Combating Arson Crimes has requested that the wind farm temporarily suspend operations and that its entire electrical network be inspected for further faults that could pose a fire risk.
The wind farm owner, an electrician and the mayor of Stylida have been remanded in custody in connection with the case. The mayor is being investigated as the owner of the engineering company alleged to have built the medium-voltage lines. According to their lawyers, the defendants deny the charges. Pre-trial detention is a temporary procedural measure and does not constitute a finding of guilt.
