News

An agent of the federal immigration police (ICE) killed a woman, 37-year-old Renee Good, in her car in Minneapolis during an operation to arrest migrants. Since Tuesday, approximately 2,000 ICE agents have been sent to the city, partly due to claims that residents from Somalia are committing fraud.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) stated that the agent was acting in self-defense, as the woman, whom they described as a “domestic terrorist,” allegedly tried to run him over with her car, with video not confirming this. The woman was closely observing the ICE operation, with Democrats stating that the victim was a “lawful observer.” After the killing, the city’s mayor, Jacob Frey, has called for ICE to be removed from the city, with Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem stating that the operation will continue as planned.

Since Trump took office, ICE has been accused of indiscriminately arresting people, with 75 percent of those detained having clean criminal records.

Videos show the SUV clearly reversing, moving away from the ICE agents as they approach. One ICE agent appears partially in front of the vehicle as it moves first forward and then away from the agents. The same agent appears to fire his gun three times as the car passes next to him.

Since Trump took office, ICE has been accused of indiscriminately arresting people to identify and deport undocumented migrants, mainly those with criminal records. In December, 68,440 people were held by ICE, with 75 percent of those arrested having clean criminal records.
