The US attacked Iran yesterday, killing 12 people, including five civilians at a wedding, and injuring dozens, as the two countries exchanged strikes.

Iran struck US targets in Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait and Iraq, while the US targeted systems operated by the Revolutionary Guards, including radar systems, as well as facilities and equipment used to deploy mines.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it had killed a large number of US military personnel in Jordan. However, two US officials told Reuters that initial assessments indicated there were no casualties.

According to the report, there appears to be little prospect of peace talks, as the war in Iran takes an economic toll on both countries.

Meanwhile, Qatar, which helped mediate the June ceasefire that quickly collapsed, said in a Foreign Ministry statement that Iran’s attacks would complicate efforts to reduce tensions. It added that it “holds the Islamic Republic of Iran fully legally responsible for these attacks, as well as their effects and consequences.”
