A two-speed internet landscape continues to define Greece, despite the dramatic improvement in performance recorded in 2025, according to a report by *Kathimerini*. Average download speeds on fixed-line connections rose to 135.97 Mbps, up from 86.24 Mbps in 2024, representing an increase of around 58%. The progress is mainly attributed to infrastructure investment and the expansion of fibre-to-the-home networks.
However, the improvement has not been evenly distributed. Attica maintains a clear lead in fixed internet performance, thanks to its higher density of infrastructure and the faster rollout of FTTH, followed by Central Macedonia, where Thessaloniki has played a decisive role. Within Attica, the municipalities of Galatsi, Nea Ionia and Lykovrysi–Pefki record the highest speeds, while the lowest are found in eastern, western and island areas.

Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Western Macedonia and Thessaly fall within the intermediate range of 90–120 Mbps. By contrast, speeds remain below 90 Mbps in Epirus, the Ionian Islands, Western Greece, Central Greece, the Peloponnese, the North and South Aegean, and Crete.
Regional disparities are smaller in mobile networks. Attica leads with an average speed of more than 180 Mbps, while the South Aegean, North Aegean and Western Macedonia range between 160 and 170 Mbps. Within Attica, Marousi and Spata–Artemida stand out for their performance.
