All scenarios remain open in the investigation into the murder of the 20-year-old on Thursday night in Kalamaria, as authorities await crucial testimony from the two friends who appear to be running alongside him in a video published by ERT. In connection with the case, the Hellenic Police has brought 14 people in for questioning.
Although early reports suggested the possibility of football-related violence, the latest findings from the police investigation do not confirm that scenario. Authorities are now exploring other directions in order to determine the motive behind the deadly attack, including the possibility of personal motives.
According to Athens-Macedonian News Agency, the 20-year-old was an organized supporter of PAOK FC, but he had never come to the attention of authorities for involvement in fan-related incidents. A café frequented by supporters of Aris Thessaloniki FC is located near the site of the attack. However, the perpetrator has not been identified, so it has not been verified whether he is an Aris supporter.
The victim also appears in a case file concerning a group known as “pedophile hunters,” individuals who allegedly trapped men by posing as underage girls online.
Witnesses say that unknown assailants with covered faces ambushed the 20-year-old and fatally stabbed him in the back.
The young man was found shortly after 10 p.m. lying in the street on Argonauton Street, severely bleeding. Paramedics from National Emergency Aid Centre (Greece) attempted to provide first aid at the scene before transporting him to AHEPA University Hospital. At around 12:30 a.m., police were informed that the victim had succumbed to his injuries.
The 20-year-old’s name also appears in a case file, along with others, related to attacks on individuals in the Meteora Grove area of Thessaloniki. The group allegedly used fake online profiles with female names and, under the pretext of arranging romantic meetings with a supposed minor, set up encounters with potential targets through social media.
