The three brothers of the Fragkiadakis family who had been wanted after the shootout in Vorizia, Crete — which resulted in the deaths of a 39-year-old man from the Kargakis family and a 56-year-old woman — surrendered to police on Monday.

According to Kathimerini, their lawyer contacted the authorities and conveyed the brothers’ intention to turn themselves in. A meeting point was arranged between Heraklion and Messara, where the three were taken into custody without resistance.

One of the brothers is reportedly the owner of the house where the explosive device detonated in the village. Police had been searching for them since Saturday, when the deadly confrontation took place.

The woman’s funeral took place yesterday in Chania, under a heavy police presence.

On Tuesday (4 November 2025), police also searched a hotel in Heraklion after receiving information that one of the suspects may have been staying there. No suspect was found, but the hotel owner’s son was taken in for questioning and, according to police, may face charges for aiding fugitives.

In addition to the three men who surrendered, a fourth brother and a cousin — both injured during the exchange of fire — are hospitalized at PAGNI under guard.

Meanwhile, police raided Alikarnassos Prison, where relatives of the 39-year-old victim are being held, and confiscated mobile phones and knives as part of the investigation.

According to police spokesperson Konstantia Dimoglidou, the investigation remains ongoing, as authorities believe more individuals may be linked to the case.
