Jonathan Andic, the son of Mango founder Isak Andic, was arrested on Tuesday after being accused over the death of his father in 2024.
The two had gone hiking near Barcelona in December 2024 when Isak Andic fell into a 100-meter ravine and, although the case was initially treated as an accident, Spain’s Supreme Court is now investigating it as a homicide case.
A spokesperson for the Andic family told Reuters that the family is convinced of Jonathan Andic’s innocence and that he is fully cooperating with the authorities.
Jonathan Andic currently serves as vice chairman of Mango’s board of directors, while his father had a net worth of $4.5 billion at the time of his death.
The case was reopened in March 2025 and the court set bail at €1 million for Jonathan, which “has already been paid,” according to a spokesperson for the Supreme Court. The judge also ordered Andic to surrender his passport and report to court on a weekly basis, the spokesperson added.
Born in Turkey, Isak Andic founded Mango in 1984 and turned it into a global powerhouse of the Spanish fashion industry. The Andic family controls the majority of Mango, with Jonathan Andic and his two sisters owning 95% of the company, according to Reuters. CEO Toni Ruiz, who became chairman in 2025 following Isak Andic’s death, owns the remaining 5%.
