Spider-Man: Brand New Day has made a strong global box office debut, earning $927 million in its first four days in theaters. Of that total, about $355 million came from North America, well above the initial forecast of $195 million and just below the record opening of Avengers: Endgame.

International markets added about $572 million, confirming Spider-Man’s status as one of the world’s strongest film franchises. The result is especially significant because it comes after a difficult period for superhero films. Since 2023, several major releases have earned less than expected, reinforcing the view that audiences have grown tired of too many similar films rather than superheroes themselves.

It is the 11th major Spider-Man film released by Sony Pictures since 2002.

Analysts attribute the film’s success to its strong appeal among Gen Z audiences, its well-known cast, including Tom Holland, Zendaya and Sadie Sink, and its focus on loneliness, mental health and the need for human connection. Sony also marketed the film as a fresh start rather than just another sequel. It is the 11th major Spider-Man film released by Sony Pictures since 2002.
