FYI: The issue arose during the start of the trial on 23 March with relatives and lawyers speaking about serious safety issues.
The conducting of an urgent preliminary examination for the suitability of the courtroom of the Tempi trial was requested by the Prosecutor’s Office of Appeals of Larisa.
According to ERT, it requests data from the urban planning department of the Municipality of Larisa, documents and building permits and the fire protection file from the Fire Service of Larisa.
It also requests that an expert civil engineer be appointed to go to the conference center from a preliminary investigation office for inspection and to proceed to the drafting of a relevant report on whether there are urban planning violations, whether the existing installations have legality, accessibility for persons with disabilities as well as any other issue for the full investigation of the case.
The request arose after a complaint of relatives of victims, in which they mention serious irregularities, deficiencies and possible urban planning violations regarding the conversion of the conference hall into a courtroom.
A supplementary order also requests from a competent official of the Ministry of Justice for technical services to inform what actions were taken after the reception of the hall so that it becomes suitable for use.
