A special Fire Brigade team will inspect the wreckage of the commercial train at Koulouri, Larissa, today, in the presence of judicial experts, as part of the investigation by the appellate judge.

At the same time, testimonies from five new witnesses have begun regarding the “filling” of the accident site at the Larissa courts. These witnesses include a survivor from the third carriage who voluntarily came forward, two officials from Hellenic Train, and the head of the Larissa traffic police, Vassilis Vlachogiannis, who had opposed the filling of the site.

Additionally, the newspaper “Estia” published an email yesterday from the then Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, Christos Triantopoulos, confirming his participation in a meeting (and thus his knowledge) about the “collection and restoration/alteration of the accident site,” with George Gerapetritis (then Minister of State) and Kostas Agorastos (former Regional Governor of Thessaly).

Today, double rallies are scheduled at 12:00 and 19:00 across Greece, while yesterday, 85 MPs submitted a motion of no confidence.

In the email, dated March 9, 2023, the deputy minister reportedly requested the region to estimate the cost of the “alterations” and send it to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport for quick processing, as emphasized by the minister. Today, Christos Triantopoulos released the full email, calling the matter “cheap partisan games.”

Finally, yesterday, a motion of no confidence was submitted against the government by 85 MPs from PASOK, SYRIZA, the New Left, Plefsi Eleftheria, and independents from the center-left. Double rallies are scheduled for today at 12:00 and 19:00 across Greece. A Prorata survey of the February 28th protesters showed that 78% of respondents believe a change in government is necessary to address the country’s issues, compared to 28% who want an immediate improvement in its performance.
