Cyprus’ Anti-Corruption Authority has published its report on the allegations made by Makarios Drousiotis in his book “Mafia State”, and the report refers to potential criminal liabilities involving 15 individuals, including former Cypriot president Nicos Anastasiades.

“Mafia State” portrays Nicos Anastasiades’ administration as a network of corruption, advancing allegations of serving oligarchic and foreign interests, money laundering, and institutional misconduct.

In addition to former Cypriot president Nicos Anastasiades, those named include Rikkos Erotokritou, former Deputy Attorney General; Nicos Kouyialis, former Minister of Agriculture; Giorgos Varnava, former MP; partners at the law firm Nicos Chr. Anastasiades & Partners; Haris Solomoniades, former President of a District Court; and the law firm Andreas Neocleous & Co LLC, among others identified as possible subjects of investigation for potential corruption-related criminal offences.

Among other things, 150 individuals testified as witnesses and a total of 793 pieces of evidence were submitted.

According to Phileleftheros, Haris Pogiatzis, head of the Independent Authority Against Corruption, has already informed former President Nicos Anastasiades about the findings of the investigation. The remaining individuals will be notified by email.

Both the report and all material gathered through witness testimony, together with the Authority’s own accompanying report, will be forwarded to the Attorney General and the Tax Commissioner.

Among other things, 150 individuals testified as witnesses and a total of 793 pieces of evidence were submitted.
