Rents are increasing in 21 student cities across the country, according to a Panhellenic Real Estate Network E-Real Estates survey, as reported by iefimerida.gr.
Indicatively, the prices for a furnished-renovated apartment of 30-45 sq.m. are €270-€600 in Patras, €220-€400 in Komotini, €260-€500 in Volos, €270-€670 in Ioannina, and €550-€670 in Chania. This means that the prices of such apartments have increased by up to €50 in Patras, Komotini, Volos, and Chania, while in Ioannina, they have increased by up to €170.
The cost of housing for a residence suitable for young people in Greece amounts to 60%-70% of the average monthly salary.
The survey also provides data on the number of properties available for short-term rental in some cities. Specifically, 413 properties are registered in Patras, 823 in Volos, 516 in Ioannina, and 3,738 in Chania.
According to the same survey, requested rents are anticipated to decrease after the summer, as many properties used for short-term rentals, like Airbnb, return to long-term rental availability.
There is a rapid increase in new property registrations on short-term rental platforms due to high demand this year.
