Prosecutor Andreas Karaflos has recommended that Petros Filippidis be acquitted on one of the two attempted rape charges in the appellate court, citing multiple doubts. The prosecution’s motion concerning the second attempted rape charge is scheduled to continue on July 1. [1], [2]

In the first trial, Filippidis was sentenced to eight years in prison—suspended pending appeal—after being found guilty of both attempted rape charges. He was acquitted of the felony charge of repeated rape due to insufficient evidence.

The prosecutor in today’s motion spoke of 38 points of inconsistencies in the complaint and spoke of a “pre-existing sexual relationship”.

In today’s hearing, the prosecutor highlighted 38 inconsistencies in the complainant’s testimony and referred to a “pre-existing sexual relationship” between the complainant and the defendant. Karaflos also criticized the complainant for an 11-year delay in reporting the alleged incident, which took place in the dressing room of the Mousouri Theatre.

The prosecutor argued that, while the actions of the accused may constitute offenses such as sexual harassment, verbal abuse, and unlawful violence, they do not meet the legal criteria for attempted rape. He categorically stated that “the circumstances of attempted rape are not established.”
