Prosecutors are investigating an incident in which 15-20 individuals, reportedly residents armed with clubs, entered an apartment building housing 28 unaccompanied minor refugees in Sepolia on Sunday [1], [2]. The group gathered outside the building, shouting, “We’ll bring a police van to take you away and throw you into the sea,” according to a report by “sepolia.net.” The confrontation followed a fight between two minor refugees, initially in the building’s courtyard and later on a balcony. People from the shelter called the police, who in turn took the two minors for questioning and later released them, according to Deputy Minister of Migration and Asylum Sofia Voultepsi.

The shelter was targeted by Golden Dawn in 2017, with a formal notice sent to the government at the time, and later that year, it was subjected to an arson attack.

The investigation focuses on crimes such as dangerous bodily harm, threats, and property damage by the alleged perpetrators, who broke the building’s exterior door, went up to the first and second floors where offices and living spaces are located, caused damage, and injured two children. The police were called again and detained six more minor refugees, who were later released. None of the alleged residents were detained. The Deputy Minister described the situation as “vigilantism,” stating that it “is not acceptable in a state governed by the rule of law.”

The organization “KEERFA – Movement United Against Racism and the Fascist Threat” said that the attack had “clear racist motives.” According to Efimerida ton Syntakton, a local resident who requested anonymity, recognized at least one individual in the videos who had previously led Golden Dawn rallies.
