Possible criminal offenses broadened in Drousiotis case

The police have completed their investigation into journalist Makarios Drousiotis’ allegations concerning “Santi” and, presenting the findings, Police Chief Themistos Arnaoutis stated that the content of the messages and audio recordings examined was false.

According to the findings of the investigation and the admissions that emerged, an application was used that allowed the creation of messages with specific content and timestamps so that they would appear genuine. In her statement, “Santi” admitted that the messages presented had been fabricated by her using the “Call Assistant” application and that they were a product of her imagination.

Drousiotis’ allegations involved claims of serious criminal offenses, surveillance, interference in state institutions, and issues related to the justice system.

At the same time, the Police Chief said that the Legal Service has instructed authorities to investigate specific potential offenses involving the individuals who created and disseminated the disputed messages. As he noted, those individuals have already been informed about the ongoing investigations.

Makarios Drousiotis’ allegations involved claims of serious criminal offenses, surveillance, interference in state institutions, and matters concerning the justice system. As part of the investigation, the journalist submitted a written statement and provided electronic material to the police, who also requested assistance from Europol and Federal Bureau of Investigation.
