In recent days, social media posts and claims have targeted the Mayor of Paphos, Faidonas Faidonos, regarding an alleged incident of domestic violence against his wife, Louiza Andreou. The Cyprus Police have opened an ex-officio investigation into the matter.
The posts appeared on a social media account named “Annie Alexoui,” for which the police have issued a wanted notice. These posts included documents presented as hospital records, allegedly related to the politician, though their authenticity is disputed.
Earlier, before the announcement of the ex-officio investigation, Louiza Andreou stated that she lives “harmoniously with her husband.”
Speaking to the Cyprus News Agency (KYPE), Police Communications Officer Christodoulos Konsolos explained that this is a procedural investigation carried out regardless of whether there is a formal complaint or a person willing to provide a statement. He added that “if any offenses are identified and substantiated, instructions are provided by the Legal Service for the further handling of the case.”
Louiza Andreou publicly stated in a post that the claims suggesting she reported her husband to the police or gave any statements are “completely false.” She emphasized that she lives “harmoniously with my husband” and that she “does not need protection, nor self-appointed guardians with ulterior motives.”
