Two neo-Nazis attacked an anti-fascist in Elefsina, stabbing him in the legs. The victim is being treated at Tzaneio Hospital and is out of danger.
The suspects, who are known in the area, have been identified and are being sought by police. One is 22 and the other 18, and both are organised Panathinaikos supporters. They have previously come to the attention of the authorities for illegal possession of knives.
The victim and the suspects knew each other. Speaking to News 247, the victim said that the man who stabbed him had also tried to stab him in the chest. After the attack, he asked a passerby to take him to hospital.
He said he managed to fend off and overpower one of the attackers but was stabbed from behind by the other.
“They ran away, and I said to a passerby, ‘Mate, I’ve been stabbed. Can you take me to hospital?’ I was losing blood and pressing on the vein to stop myself from losing too much. With my other hand, I called my mother and told her, ‘If I don’t make it, you should know they killed me,’ and I told her who they were. I could see blood spurting out and didn’t know if the injury would be fatal. To his credit, the passerby stopped, put me in his car and took me to the health centre,” he said.
The victim also described how he managed to fend off and overpower one attacker before being stabbed from behind by the other.
