The Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 in Boston, achieving a 4-1 record and securing their 18th championship in history. This marks the 13th championship this century for one of the city’s four major professional sports teams, which also include the Red Sox (baseball), Patriots (American football), and Bruins (ice hockey).

Jaylen Brown was named Finals MVP following the Celtics’ victory, averaging 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, five assists, 1.6 steals, and 38.5 minutes of play while primarily guarding Luka Dončić throughout the series. Brown starred in the final game with 21 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, alongside Jayson Tatum, who recorded 31 points, eight rebounds, and 11 assists.

The Celtics won their 18th NBA title on the 16th anniversary of their 17th championship win.

The Celtics completed the playoffs with a 16-3 record, the second-best in history after the Golden State Warriors’ 16-1 run in the 2016-2017 season. With this championship, the Celtics have won the most titles in the NBA, surpassing the Lakers’ 17 championships. The number of viewers for the final game has yet to be announced, but the official viewership for the previous four games ranged from 9.6 million to 12.3 million.
