A serious domestic violence incident occurred shortly after midnight in Lavrio, where a 32-year-old man attacked his former partner and her current partner with a knife, seriously injuring both. The two young children of the woman and the accused, aged 2½ and 1½, were also in the house at the time.
According to police, the 32-year-old climbed onto the balcony of the home using a ladder, smashed a window with a sledgehammer and entered the house. He then attacked his 32-year-old former partner and her 33-year-old partner with a knife, inflicting multiple injuries. Both were initially taken to Asklipieio Voulas hospital, while the woman was later transferred to Evangelismos hospital. Their condition is described as serious.
The woman is among more than 14,666 women and 1,430 men who have installed the Panic Button since March 2023.
Following the attack, the 32-year-old went to the Lavreotiki Police Station and turned himself in. A case was filed against him for attempted murder, while the preliminary investigation is ongoing.
The woman had reported her former partner five times since November 27, 2025: four times for offences including domestic threats and once for failure to meet child support obligations. A Panic Button had been installed on her phone, while police said she had been offered accommodation at a shelter but declined. On September 3, 2026, the 32-year-old had also been arrested for domestic threats and violating weapons laws after a 22-centimetre cutting tool and a rod were found in his possession. Restrictive measures had been imposed on him.
