Israel bombed yesterday the natural gas facilities South Pars which Iran shares with Qatar and which constitutes the largest deposit in the world. It is located off the coasts of the southern province of Bushehr and it is estimated that it contains 1,800 trillion cubic feet (51 trillion cubic meters) of natural gas in situ, covering approximately 70% of Iran’s domestic supply and a significant part of Qatar’s exports.
The attack took place a few hours after the Israeli forces killed the Minister of Intelligence of Iran and launched some of the most intense aerial bombardments in Beirut in decades.

Iran attacked Qatar and threatened the energy installations of other neighboring countries and the price of crude oil surged ($112 per barrel). Trump stated that he did not know about the attack and promised that it will not happen again, unless Iran proceeds to new retaliation. Then, the USA will “blow up the South Pars facilities” he said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar condemned what it characterized as a “violent Iranian attack”, saying that the targeting constitutes a “direct threat to its national security”. In a clear escalation, Iranian military and security officials were ordered to leave Qatar within 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Nikos Dendias, stated that a Greek Patriot system in Saudi Arabia shot down 2 Iranian missiles there, as the air defense in which Greece also participates was activated.
