Iran rejects its participation in negotiations with the US before the end of the ceasefire on Wednesday, as the US attacked an Iranian ship.
The ship attempted to break the US naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran describes as a violation of the agreement, while it appears to be under sanctions of the American Treasury Department because of a “previous history of illegal activity.”
The Iranian army stated that the ship had sailed from China. “We warn that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will respond soon and will repay this armed piracy by the American military,” Iranian media transmitted.
The ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran is in force since April 8 and its duration is until Wednesday.
At the same time, Iran accuses the US of “unrealistic demands” for the achievement of peace. Specifically, it speaks of “excessive demands of Washington, unrealistic expectations, continuous changes of stance, repeated contradictions and continuing naval blockade.”
A few hours before Iran’s statement, Trump said that his negotiators would arrive in Pakistan on Monday night. A White House official said that the mission would be led by Vice President JD Vance and would include Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
Trump had threatened Iran that, if it rejects his terms, he will attack every electricity production plant of the country.
