Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ National Security Adviser, Thanos Dokos, fell victim to two Russian pranksters, believing he was speaking with the national security adviser to the Ukrainian president.

The two pranksters warned Dokos about a repeat of the drone incident off Lefkada, prompting him to say that such an event would affect Greek-Ukrainian relations while revealing confidential information.

Among other things, he disclosed that the head of Greece’s National Intelligence Service (EYP) had been sent to Kyiv and said that the country would hold elections “in the coming months.”

The two Russian pranksters are Vovan and Lexus, who are known for making prank calls to politicians and celebrities, among others.

“It is the tourist season, and maritime traffic is heavy. We understand the necessities of war, but we do not want the war to be transferred to our territory or our territorial waters,” he said.

“Please warn those planning such an operation. These are extremely busy waters, and any incident affecting maritime safety and tourism would create serious problems in our bilateral relations,” he also said.

He further told the pranksters, believing they were speaking on behalf of the Ukrainian government, that the Ukrainian side should weigh whether sinking a Russian ship would be worth the potential loss of Greece’s support.

“They have to decide whether it is worth losing Greece’s support in order to destroy one Russian ship. It is as simple as that,” he is heard saying.
