Greece was eliminated from Euro 2024 after losing 4-2 on penalties (0-0 in regular time and extra time) to Georgia in Tbilisi. This marks Georgia’s first participation in the tournament finals in its history.
In addition to Georgia, the other two teams that secured a place in the finals were Ukraine, which eliminated Iceland, and Poland, which beat Wales. These teams will join the final stage from June 14th to July 14th.
Greece has reached the final phase four times, more recently in 2012. In 2004, they came first, bringing home the tournament’s trophy.
The 24 qualified teams are Germany, Belgium, France, Portugal, Scotland, Spain, Turkey, Austria, England, Hungary, Slovakia, Albania, Denmark, Netherlands, Romania, Switzerland, Serbia, Czech Republic, Italy, Slovenia, and Croatia. The countries with the most Euro titles are Germany (3), Spain (3), and France (2).
The Euro will be televised by ERT, with matches scheduled to take place in ten German cities: Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Leipzig, Cologne, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, and Gelsenkirchen. This marks the third time in history that Germany has hosted the tournament.
