A criminal organization involved in fraud against e-EFKA has been dismantled, with Filippos Kampouris, president of the far-right LAOS (Popular Orthodox Rally) party, and his wife identified as leading members. Both have been arrested. Kampouris has served as a Piraeus municipal councillor, was a parliamentary candidate for Greek Solution, and became president of LAOS in 2023. He is also a journalist and TV presenter.
According to News247, a large-scale operation has been under way since the morning of October 6, 2026, led by the financial crimes unit of the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime in several areas of Attica. In addition to the alleged fraud against e-EFKA, those involved are accused of tax evasion.
Filippos Kampouris has served as a Piraeus municipal councillor, was a parliamentary candidate for Greek Solution, and became president of LAOS in 2023.
The organization appears to have been setting up companies since 2021, including advertising businesses, restaurants, nightclubs and clothing stores, in the names of people who were not actually behind them (“straw men”). The companies allegedly failed to pay contributions to e-EFKA and were then shut down.
The losses to e-EFKA are estimated at more than €1.5 million, while total losses to the state, including from tax evasion, are estimated at more than €5 million. Eight people have been arrested so far, including accountants, business owners and straw men. Those arrested include Filippos Kampouris, his wife and other alleged leading members.
Official announcements from the Hellenic Police are expected after the operation by the so-called “Greek FBI” is completed.
