Three individuals allegedly involved in the explosion at an apartment in Ampelokipi are facing charges for serious offenses, including the formation and membership in a terrorist organization, procurement, manufacture, and possession of explosives, and the explosion with potential intent to endanger human lives. The building has been declared uninhabitable due to the damage from the blast.
The case arose from yesterday’s investigations by the Hellenic Police. According to a report by Giannis Souliotis in “Kathimerini,” it also follows the lifting of phone privacy for the 36-year-old who died in the explosion and his 33-year-old partner, who is hospitalized with injuries from the blast under guard, as she is one of the three individuals facing charges.
According to information from “Kathimerini,” there are at least two other accomplices, and the target of the attack was of “Greek interest,” rather than a foreign embassy, for example.
The second individual is a 30-year-old permanent resident of Switzerland who had keys to the apartment and was arrested at Eleftherios Venizelos Airport yesterday after returning to the country alone. Her 31-year-old partner, who presented himself to the authorities as a witness on Friday, was also arrested afterward. The 31-year-old is scheduled to be questioned today and is expected to deny involvement.
The Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, said that those alleged to be involved are young individuals who seem to aspire to become a new generation of domestic terrorists in Greece.
