The organization Revolutionary Class Self-Defense claimed responsibility for the bombing at the Hellenic Train offices (Friday) and the Ministry of Labor (February 2024) through a statement on the indymedia website. The statement referenced the Palestinian people and Kyriakos Xymitiris (who was killed while constructing a bomb in Ambelokipoi).

The explosion caused only material damage, with no injuries reported, and the organization contacted “Ef.Syn.” and “zougla.gr” to warn that a bomb was set to explode in 35 minutes.

In its statement, the organization linked the Tempe tragedy to the “murders” of the working class, which are presented as “work accidents” by capital and the state.

Since 2022, at least 6 incidents involving explosive devices have been reported (most of which were defused) without any injuries.

“Over the past three years alone, more than 600 workers have lost their lives and over 1,000 have been seriously injured […] while thousands of others have been injured and required medical treatment (with all the associated costs) in more than 40,000 workplace ‘accidents,'” the statement reads.

Regarding the Tempe tragedy, the statement adds: “They immediately attributed the accident, even while the blood had not yet dried, to human error and the ‘chronic pathologies of the Greek state and public sector,’ effectively calling for even more freedom for capital, more privatizations, and further attacks on whatever public infrastructure remains.”

As for the investigations, the Greek Police (EL.AS) states that they are focusing on at least two suspects, while also looking into the possibility of other individuals being involved.
