Chinese cars are rapidly increasing their presence in Greece, as 9,705 new Chinese cars were sold in 2025 out of a total of 144,199 new vehicles released to the market, while in the first four months of 2026 their sales reached 3,699.

Despite their upward trend, Chinese brands continue to face skepticism from some consumers, mainly regarding reliability, resale value, and the long-term support of their models, according to Kathimerini.

At the same time, China is rapidly developing its automotive industry, in many cases surpassing its competitors.

Chinese electric vehicle exports reached 278,081 units in April, while total overseas vehicle sales in 2026 climbed to 893,852.

According to a report by the Rhodium Group, the country now leads global exports in more than 315 product categories, compared to 163 in 2016. Many of these are linked to electric vehicle supply chains, including batteries, components, and industrial manufacturing equipment.

The International Energy Agency estimates that producing a small electric SUV in China is at least 30% cheaper compared to more advanced economies, mainly because of lower battery costs and highly developed supply chains.

This advantage was built through years of state support. Rhodium estimates that China has directed tens of billions of dollars into electric vehicle and battery production in recent years alone.
