The Greek FBI arrested 3 people, uncle and nephews, in Vorizia of Heraklion, members of a criminal organisation who are involved in extortions, arsons, damages and frauds.
For the frauds, in fact, the 3 of them allegedly violently seized plots of land and afterwards received the subsidies that the owners were receiving for them, through OPEKEPE.
Thus they caused financial damage of €200,000+ to citizens and more than €580,000 to the Greek State and the European Union through subsidies from OPEKEPE.
The 3 arrested persons do not belong to either of the 2 families that were involved in the November shootings in Vorizia due to a vendetta, with 3 dead.
The operation took place today, by the Department for Combating Organised Crime of Crete of the DAOE. Three more people have also been arrested, who are accused of livestock thefts.
Until now, three people from the same family have been arrested, under arrest warrants, as well as three more for livestock thefts.
This specific family in Vorizia of Heraklion that is involved is described as “the fear and terror” of the area, while it has no relation to the 2 families that were involved in the November shootings in Vorizia due to a vendetta, with 3 dead.
As News 24/7 reports, these are members of a family to which the Minister of Citizen Protection Michalis Chrysochoidis had referred indirectly but clearly some time ago in an interview about persons who “plunder the area with illegal activities and collect subsidies from OPEKEPE”.
