For every rental listing nationwide, there are 2.41 expressions of interest, indicating more immediate intent, and 23.38 unique searches, reflecting broader interest.
The supply shortage is even more evident for homes with asking rents of up to €600 a month and sale prices of up to €250,000, as these are the most popular options. In areas such as Athens’ northern suburbs, there are 21.1 expressions of interest per listing and 282 unique searches.
Demand from abroad is also rising, up 60.3%.
The increase in the number of businesses has also driven demand for rental housing, as more workers seek to move closer to their workplaces to reduce commuting time and costs.
Overall, domestic demand for buying and renting homes increased by 75.5% between 2020 and 2026.
