Last night, a 15-year-old male was stabbed in the chest during a clash in Kallithea and killed, while the victim’s identity has not yet been established.
The perpetrator was arrested after being among 14 people brought in for questioning. However, the murder weapon has not yet been found, although authorities discovered another knife during searches in the area, ERT reports.
The clash appears to have started when two groups who were in a square in Kallithea got into a fight, for reasons that are still unclear.
According to media reports, authorities are examining whether the fight broke out over football-fan rivalries, following testimonies from neighbors who saw the incident.
A witness to the incident, speaking to Orange Press Agency, said she believed that “it was about football-fan rivalries.”
“I was there. I was with them there. I was coming with my husband and my baby, and we saw the guys running,” she said. She added that “we saw him in the street covered in blood. For about 5-10 minutes we were trying to help him, but then he lost consciousness.”
“Last night after midnight, an ambulance was heard. We later learned that someone had been attacked, a young boy, and unfortunately later during the night we learned that the boy had died,” according to another testimony. Another woman also described the clash, saying it was “like a fight, like someone arguing, but not for very long. They stopped quickly.”
