The measure provides for the equivalent of two months’ rent to be refunded each year, with no income criteria, for specific categories of workers. It applies to those who rent a home in the region where they work, excluding Attica, with the exception of the Islands Regional Unit, and the Thessaloniki Metropolitan Unit.
The total benefit could amount to the equivalent of three or even four months’ rent over the two-year period of 2024-2025. Those who received the one-month rent rebate in November 2025 will receive an amount equal to 1/12 of their total annual rent.
The benefit is calculated automatically, with no application required, based on information from the tenant’s tax return.
Those who did not receive the rebate because they did not meet the income criteria of the general scheme will retroactively receive an amount equal to 2/12 of their 2024 rent.
Payment for 2025 rent will follow by the end of November 2026, with the benefit generally equal to 2/12 of the total annual rent. If a recipient also receives the general one-month rent rebate for their primary residence, the additional benefit will be limited to 1/12, bringing the total rebate to the equivalent of two months’ rent.
