The public sector will proceed to a 24-hour nationwide strike on Wednesday 13 May, following a decision by ADEDY, with main goals the restoration of labour gains, increases in salaries and strengthening of rights.
Specifically, the mobilisation is expected to affect the entirety of public services, while a strike gathering will take place at Klafthmonos Square at 11:00 in the morning and then a march in the centre of Athens will follow.
At the centre of the demands of public employees are: the restoration of the 13th and 14th salary, increases in salaries and pensions based on the increased cost of living, the improvement of working conditions, as well as the strengthening and protection of labour rights.

In its announcement, the Executive Committee of ADEDY connects the strike mobilisation with the broader social and economic pressures, pointing out the need for substantial strengthening of incomes and limitation of high prices.
At the same time, it requests: abolition of the solidarity levy, restoration of wage losses, recognition of prior service in the private sector, as well as issues related to health and safety at work, collective agreements and trade union rights.
