To Parliament were forwarded the 2 new case files for OPEKEPE, for lifting of immunity of 11 active MPs of New Democracy, but also the investigation for a former minister and deputy minister of Agricultural Development.
Among the 11 MPs mentioned in the 1st case file are: the current Minister of Agricultural Development Kostas Tsiaras, the current Minister of Civil Protection Ioannis Kefalogiannis as well as the MPs Kostas Karamanlis, Kostas Skrekas, Katerina Papakosta and Notis Mitarakis. Also included are Dimitris Vartzopoulos, Maximos Senetakis, Vasileios Vasileiadis, Christos Boukoros and Theofilos Leontaridis.
The 2 former minister and former deputy minister who are being examined for possible breach of duty, in the 2nd case file, are: Spilios Livanos and Fotini Arabatzi.
They submitted their resignation from the government scheme Georgios Kefalogiannis, Kostas Tsiaras and Dimitris Vartzopoulos, while today a reshuffle is expected to be announced.
Article 86 of the Greek Constitution defines that if during an investigation elements arise that relate to offenses which may have been committed by ministers during the exercise of their duties, even if they no longer hold the position, these elements must be forwarded immediately to Parliament.
Also, five former MPs are under investigation, for whom lifting of immunity is not required, while there is also a third case file for Charalampos Athanasiou and Tasos Chatzivasileiou, also active MPs of New Democracy.
