Giannis Panagopoulos, president of the GSEE, did not declare €3.2 million in 2020–2025, although he was obliged to submit a declaration of assets as president of 3 bodies of professional training and education for which he is being checked for embezzlement, according to the Authority for the Laundering of Black Money.

Thus, it is not excluded that Giannis Panagopoulos may again be placed as a suspect, this time for inaccurate declaration of assets at the level of a felony.

In February 2026, the Authorities proceeded to the “freezing” of the accounts of the president of the GSEE, G. Panagopoulos, and 6 other persons, as he is alleged to be involved in a case of embezzlement of funds from the Greek state and the EU, which are intended for educational programs.

Panagopoulos is accused of embezzlement from the Greek state and the EU, making direct assignments to companies, many without activity.

G. Panagopoulos appears to have made direct assignments (some had not even been posted on Diavgeia) to specific companies and from these, some did not have activity or the infrastructure or the personnel for the implementation of such programs.

In this case, the former Secretary General of Labour and deputy governor of the independent authority of market control, Anna Stratinaki, as well as her husband, are also involved.

According to the control of the independent authority, A. Stratinaki appears to have submitted inaccurate declarations of assets for €1.3 million, as did her husband A. Georgiou in 2023–2024 for €700–800 thousand.
