Taylor Swift today released The Life of a Showgirl, her 12th studio album and a record-breaker on Spotify with more than 5 million pre-saves, surpassing her own previous release The Tortured Poets Department. The anticipation around the album had been building for months, and its arrival marks another milestone in Swift’s career.
The project is inspired by her life as a singer and was largely written during the European stretch of her record-breaking “Eras Tour” in 2024, which grossed over $2 billion, making it the most successful tour in history. For the first time since Reputation (2017), Swift collaborated with Max Martin and Shellback on production.

The Life of a Showgirl features 12 songs, with the only guest appearance coming from American pop singer Sabrina Carpenter. The record has so far received mixed to positive reviews, with an average score of 76/100. Critics praised Swift’s songwriting and the polish of the production, but some argued the album falls short compared to her previous work.
Swift, already the only artist to win the Grammy for Album of the Year four times, adds another chapter to her legacy with an album that blends personal storytelling, grand stage imagery and pop ambition.
