Greek Minister of National Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis announced a 30% increase in the heating allowance compared with last year, alongside a direct subsidy for heating oil.

According to News24/7, the minimum allowance is expected to rise from €100 to €130, while the standard maximum is projected to increase from €800 to €1,040. In areas with higher heating needs, the maximum allowance could reach €1,300 or €1,560, depending on the climate coefficient.

Heating oil prices are expected to range between €1.41 and €1.71 per litre, compared with €1.13 during the same period last year.

Three subsidy scenarios are under consideration, providing support of €0.25, €0.35 or €0.55 per litre. These would bring the indicative price of heating oil to €1.71, €1.61 or €1.41 per litre, respectively, compared with approximately €1.96 without additional measures. Under the scenarios being considered, refineries would contribute €0.10 per litre, with the remaining amount covered by the state budget.

The government aims to increase support for eligible households while reducing the cost of heating oil. The final subsidy amount and implementation details are expected to be announced on 14 October, ahead of the start of heating oil distribution on 15 October.
