The anesthetic propofol appears to have been detected in toxicology tests being carried out by the relevant laboratory at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) as part of the investigation into the circumstances of Giorgos Mazonakis’ death, according to MEGA.
If confirmed, the finding would contradict the testimony of the 56-year-old doctor being held in pretrial detention, who maintains that she did not administer sedation. The medical community, medical associations and the Hellenic Society of Anaesthesiology maintain that sedation should only be administered by a qualified anesthesiologist.
Meanwhile, as part of the investigation, the Hellenic Police are looking into how the substances in question came to be at the medical practice, as they are prohibited in such facilities.

A report by protothema.gr also claims that an examination by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations found that the doctor had deleted all calls and text messages exchanged with the singer and the hypnotherapist. According to the report, which is in the hands of the investigating judge, the doctor also appears to have searched for information on the side effects of propofol and its use in combination with midazolam.
