The State will not file legal remedies (e.g. appeal) against decisions for compensation for Tempi (even for those that have already been made) to relatives of victims for mental suffering and to those affected for moral damage, following a government proposal.

The proposal was by the Minister of National Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis and the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Konstantinos Kyranakis, and concerned also the classification of the Tempi railway accident of 28 February 2023 as a case of particular social importance.

Thus, the procedures of Justice for their payment will move faster and there will be no further burden for relatives and injured persons.

The proposal was made by the Minister of Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, and the Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Konstantinos Kyranakis.

The same had happened also in the cases of Mandra and Mati, as well as for the first compensation decisions that were adjudicated for Tempi.

“With the approval of this proposal, the government confirms its will to handle in a unified and fair way cases with a strong social footprint, based also on the new framework law introduced by the Vice President of the Government Kostis Hatzidakis and voted by Parliament, ensuring on the one hand the faster delivery of Justice and on the other the avoidance of further burden for the families of the victims and the injured,” it is stressed in a relevant announcement.
