A police officer is led to prison who last Thursday (12.03) violated a red light with the service vehicle (motorcycle), entered against the flow of the downward lane of Vasilissis Sofias in Athens, outside the Parliament, and collided with a motorcycle driver who was lawfully in the downward lane and who was killed.
The collision has been recorded, in fact, in a video which was published by MEGA on Sunday (15.03).
After the collision both were led to the hospital, where the death of the 63-year-old driver was confirmed.
The police officer was arrested on Friday, was led yesterday to the investigating judge and was judged pre-trial detained with the charge of dangerous driving, which caused death at felony level, and for manslaughter by negligence.
The family of the victim in its announcement spoke of “extreme criminal driving behavior of the driver”.
“Unique demand is that justice be delivered. We will exhaust every legal means for the revelation of the full truth and the referral of every responsible person. Our primary concern is the criminal prosecution and the exemplary punishment of the responsible driver, whose actions deprived the life of a young person. We will closely monitor the judicial development of the case in order for the justice that corresponds to the memory of our relative to be delivered,” states the family in its announcement.
“The family wishes to give the ‘battle’ and vindication within the competent courts. Any actions and responses of ours will be done institutionally to the competent police and judicial authorities and only,” stresses the lawyer of the family.
