Farmers continue their protests, remaining at roadblocks and closing roads with their tractors in Central and Western Macedonia, despite the Byron storm. During today’s general assembly, they will decide on the next course of action.
Their daily general assemblies are what determine the direction of their actions, as they continuously consider expanding protest points and adopting new forms of demonstration, according to Kathimerini.
Active roadblocks include, among others, the Malgara tolls on the National Road (Athens-bound lane closed), Evzoni, Chalkidona, as well as Pieria, Imathia, and Pella.
Truck drivers, taxi drivers, and local market producers are also joining in to show their support.
On Thursday afternoon, the Promachonas border crossing between Greece and Bulgaria reopened, and the farmers decided not to proceed with any further blockades today.
At the same time, a farmers’ blockade is being set up at the “Green Lights” intersection in Thessaloniki, near the airport. A second blockade may also be established at the “Macedonia” interchange.
Tomorrow, Saturday (06.12), early in the morning, farmers and livestock breeders from Sochos, Assiros, Kallindoia, Koroneia, Vertiskos, Lagkadas, and Lachanas will gather in the central squares of their villages with tractors and agricultural machinery and will move from there to the Dervenio interchange until 15:00.
