The MEP and influencer Fidias Panagiotou is being investigated by the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) for misuse of funds, following a complaint by the Cypriot anti-corruption authority.
According to the complaint, he used EU funds to rent a luxury property in Limassol, which he declared as his political office.
He responds that “all applicable rules were fully complied with” and said he will publish a related video.
“Throughout the entire process of establishing his parliamentary office in Cyprus, all applicable rules were fully complied with and the installation was approved through the European Parliament MEP portal,” he specifically stated to Politico.
Fidias declares himself apolitical and a fan of E. Musk, and has admitted that as a student he participated in marches of ELAM, the far-right party of Cyprus.
Fidias Panagiotou was elected to the European Parliament in 2024 as an independent MEP and documents his life as a politician in videos on YouTube with the aim of explaining the internal functioning of the EU’s institutional bodies. His videos have been praised by the tech magnate and owner of X, Elon Musk.
The EPPO “does not comment on ongoing investigations, nor does it publicly confirm the cases it is working on,” a spokesperson said. “This is done so as not to jeopardize any ongoing proceedings and their outcome.”
Fidias declares himself apolitical and a fan of Elon Musk, who has, in fact, expressed admiration for him. Fidias has also admitted that as a student he participated in marches of ELAM, the far-right party of Cyprus.
