At least 45 Palestinians were killed in Gaza yesterday by IDF airstrikes — the largest escalation since the ceasefire took effect on October 10. Israel accused Hamas of violating the truce first by killing two Israeli soldiers and temporarily halted the passage of humanitarian aid.

Both sides have been accusing each other of violations throughout the ceasefire, with Hamas claiming 80 breaches that have resulted in at least 97 deaths and 230 injuries in just nine days. However, both remain committed to maintaining the truce, with the IDF stating that “its implementation resumes” following the end of yesterday’s hostilities.

Since October 10, Israel has killed more than 97 Palestinians and violated the ceasefire 80 times, according to Al Jazeera.

Meanwhile, Hamas announced that it had located the body of another Israeli hostage and said it intends to hand it over to Israel “if conditions on the ground allow,” warning that continued bombings and attacks make such transfers impossible. Israel maintains that Hamas’s holding of hostages’ bodies constitutes a violation of the ceasefire agreement.

Hamas also rejected a statement by the U.S. State Department accusing it of planning an attack, calling the claim “false” and “coordinated with misleading Israeli propaganda.”
