The FBI yesterday released video and photos of a suspect in the murder of Charlie Kirk, who has remained at large for more than 24 hours, with police offering a $100,000 reward for any information.
Although the suspect’s identity and motives have not yet been revealed, the FBI described the incident as a “targeted attack.”
The footage shows a person jumping from a rooftop on the university campus, crossing a busy street, and disappearing into a wooded area, where a weapon was later found.
Right-wing MEPs called for a minute of silence in Kirk’s honor, but European Parliament President Roberta Metsola rejected the proposal.
U.S. President Donald Trump, a close friend and ally of the 31-year-old far-right influencer, blamed the “radical left” for the murder, calling for a “response, but without violence.”
Kirk played a major role in shaping far-right youth opinion in the U.S. He and the organization he co-founded, Turning Point USA, were credited by Trump with helping secure his 2024 victory by mobilizing young voters in his favor.
Politically motivated attacks were already on the rise in the U.S., and analysts now fear an escalation of the phenomenon.
On social media, many left-leaning users openly celebrated Kirk’s death, suggesting he “got what he deserved.” Meanwhile, on the right and far right, initial expressions of grief and shock quickly gave way to calls for political revenge and retribution.
